Weekly Art Therapy Practices
|
Art therapy is a creative practice that allows emotions, thoughts, and inner experiences to take form without needing to be spoken. For many people, feelings can be difficult to articulate in words — especially when navigating stress, grief, identity shifts, uncertainty, or personal challenges of any kind. Through color, shape, texture, and movement, the creative process can offer a safe way to externalize what feels internal and overwhelming. Art-making creates space to observe rather than suppress, to explore rather than avoid, and to connect with parts of ourselves that may not yet have language.
These weekly practices are designed as supportive tools for self-reflection and emotional awareness. They are not a replacement for psychotherapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment. Instead, they can serve as a complementary action — something to continue between sessions, or a gentle starting point for those who express themselves more comfortably through images than conversation. As someone who also turns to art to process emotion without speaking, I understand the power of visual expression. My hope is that these practices, along with the downloadable resources and my book, provide structure, insight, and a deeper understanding of the emotional language behind the colors and forms you create. |
